广义M—J集结构奇特，色彩复杂，在计算机艺术界被广泛应用，但复杂的结构常常导致色彩繁杂，表现主题过于灵活，难以确定，这实际上限制了广义M—J集在商业中的应用。文中利用中国水墨扩散原理，提出了一种混合颜色生成的自动配色方案。该算法弥补了广义M—J集图案实用性弱的不足。实验表明，利用该算法生成的配色方案协调合理，生成的图案色彩具有明显的传统中国特色，基本上可满足用户个性化配色的需求。
