Abstract:
 Cloud is a common natural scenery,the simulation of volumetric cloud is a difficult project in the field of computer graphics. In this paper,research the commonly used method of volumetric cloud simulation,which includes physical simulation method and empiri-cal model method. The physical simulation methods include particle system modeling,bubble modeling and voxel modeling,the experi-ence methods include texture mapping and the noise function. Based on the research of Perlin noise,the volumetric cloud simulation algo-rithm based on the 4 dimensional Perlin noise is implemented by the step of first building noise function,and then smoothing,last interpo-lating. The cloud dynamically generated and disappeared simulation is realized based on cellular automata theory. Compared and analyzed the above two methods,the advantages and disadvantages and the use cases of two kinds of implementation are illustrated.
