根据野外环境下早期火灾火焰的辐射特性和形状变化特性，阐述了对红外图像进行图像获取和预处理、特征提取以及火灾判别的过程。重点研究了火焰识别的判据，提出了五种判据作为火灾图像识别的依据。为了提高图像处理的效率，采用了先对图像进行区域分割，然后去掉背景信息而只对各可疑区域做进一步处理的方法，提高了系统的实时性。与其它的火焰识别算法相比，该算法在野外这种复杂的实际环境中，识别的准确性高，抗干扰能力强，能够在一定程度上识别出车灯、路灯等疑似干扰，因此具有广泛的应用前景
