论述了远程监控系统的研究现状和发展趋势，结合自助服务终端的特点和Java跨平台的特性，提出了一种基于Web的远程监控系统设计方案，并给出了系统体系结构及其实现方法。系统已经应用于某电信自助缴费终端监控，实现了预先的设计构想，取得了良好的经济效益和社会效益
